R&P’s Beijing office head Rogier van Bijnen was quoted by the Dutch Financial Daily on August 13th in an article on the changing business climate in China. The article mentions how Dutch blue-chips like Unilever, Philips, Akzo Nobel and DSM still generate a large share of their revenue from China, but that the years of automatic and unlimited growth are over.
Rogier clarified that it has become more straightforward to set up a company, but you will now need a strong business model to make money in China whether you are a large multinational, a mid-sized business of an SME.
