CLP Recognizes R&P’s Employment Practice again in 2012

26 July 2012

R&P is extremely pleased to announce that for the second year in a row, we have been recognized by China Law & Practice as one of China’s leading law firms for its top-notch employment practice.

China Law & Practice is part of the Legal Media Group and Euromoney Asia, which is the publisher of the leading journal on Chinese legal developments as well as Asialaw Profiles. Other firms selected through rigorous research for the title employment practice of the year at the upcoming China Law & Practice Awards 2012 include King, Wood & Mallesons and TransAsia Lawyers.

The main focus of R&P’s employment team continues to be the support of international businesses to terminate managers and deal with management disputes. Replacing ineffective or even fraudulent managers remains a key challenge to companies operating in China, and the firm’s expertise in this field is widely accepted as being “of the highest quality, very practical and result-focused”. Meanwhile, the firm is also expanding in other areas of employment law, namely:

  • drafting rules to manage employees such as labor contracts, staff handbooks and authorization documents;
  • representing companies and individuals in labor arbitration disputes over termination, severance, and overtime; and
  • advising on and implementing economic redundancy plans.

Global economic difficulties are continuing to put pressure on many international companies in China to cut staff or manage employees more effectively, while newcomers to China are seeing the benefits of preparing in advance for worst-case scenarios.

Whereas few Chinese law firms have a substantial employment practice, R&P is - due to its employment expertise and experience - becoming an important partner for more multinationals for their employment issues.
